[...] Early in the morning, there was a report on Twitter that every website hosted in Blogger.com is blocked by First Media, one of Internet Service Providers in Indonesia. Apparently it caused by government’s concern regarding a blog (hosted in Blogger.com, naturally) that giving sinister image for a certain religion and feared to cause riot so the government issued a letter to every ISP to block that certain blog. However, the result was far from expected. Instead of blocking a single blog, First Media blocked the entire population and in no time many opinions arose, from protesting the government to accusing the authorities of ’silencing the right to speak’. The minister of communication and information, Tifatul Sembiring (@tifsembiring) responded to the crowd and took action quickly.
I prefer the first one, where the minister ACTUALLY heard and SOLVE it quickly. Learning from previous minister, I'm sure Tifatul has already learned from past mistake. I guess FirstMedia ISP is the one who take it the wrong way (or they just want play it safe - to block the whole domain).
